WINE ROUTE TACORONTE-ACENTEJO GUARANTEE OF ORIGIN

This month Tenerife is full of activities about Tenerife Wines, so for this weekend I suggest you a tour through the winemaking area Guarantee of Origin Tacoronte - Acentejo: cuisine, wine and nature.

Our route starts at the Farmer and Artisan Market of Tegueste: There, it promoves the consumption of local products while it gains recognition public to be a point of sale of quality products and distinguished local varieties of wine.

Its location provides direct access for everyone, including those with disabilities, it’s especially conditioned for it. It also has the advantage of having a large area of parking.
In the 33 stands in the sales area we can find a wide variety of natural products and absolutely handmade: traditional and ecological agriculture, floriculture, bread, salted fish, cheese, liquors, baskets, natural candles, crochet, glass, crafts, jewelry, lace, nuts, palm handicrafts, and of course, wine. The service area includes a terrace cafe, health system and playground.

Then we can make a small break in Taroconte (14 km.) to visit its Winery, where you can taste exquisite wines awarded with the Guarantee of Origin Taroconte - Acentejo.

To ensure the reputation of the winery, they apply rigorous quality control of grapes in the field and in the maturation processes at the winery. This control, can achieve excellent wines that have achieved great prestige in the islands and abroad, having already received hundreds of national and international awards.

Their work is based on obtaining high quality wines, the best known of the Canary Islands while they establish a strong link between growers and territory, and hence maintenance of hundreds of hectares of vineyard; They maintain landscape beauty and charm.

After a few wines to whet your appetite, we completed the tour with a visit to La Baranda Wine Museum in El Sauzal, just 6 km. of Taroconte. There, a traditional agricultural canary House: La Casa del Vino La Baranda offers to visitors the opportunity to learn about the rich wine heritage of the island, the Tenerife wines history and their importance in a privileged spot with wonderful views of the sea and Teide. We can use for sustenance at a restaurant or tavern, and enjoy the gastronomy of the area with the best wine Guarantee of Origin of Tacoronte-Acentejo.

Then, we can move to La Matanza de Acentejo and to go for a walk through the "Las Nateras"vineyards. There we can enjoy with the views of the landscape: traditional natural surroundings and perfectly preserved.

From here we start our way back by Garachico, Santiago del Teide, Adeje, Guia de Isora and, finally, Arona.

If we have time, we can take a little stop. On the way to Valle de la Orotava, we come to the Humboldt Viewpoint that offers spectacular views of the valley where vineyards, banana plantations and Strelitzias flowers decorate the Orotava Valley.
